What is autologous rib/donor rib rhinoplasty?

Ideal for a firm, long-lasting, and supportive nose line

Rhinoplasty using autologous or donated rib cartilage is a highly complex procedure suitable for cases requiring high support and structural stability. Even in complex situations such as revision surgery, nasal tip sagging, cartilage deficiency, or silicone side effects, solid and refined results are expected.

DU Plastic Surgery is a hospital specializing in effectively utilizing the unique strength of costal cartilage, based on its extensive clinical experience and know-how in autologous and donor rib surgeries.

It is not a simple cartilage transplant, but rather a process that involves selecting the location of costal cartilage harvesting, minimizing incisions, preventing warping, and ensuring structural stability. The entire process is meticulously designed to ensure post-operative satisfaction and stability.Increases the level of

The special features of DU's autologous rib rhinoplasty

What is costal cartilage?

An incision is made in the chest or side, located below the ribs.
After harvesting the thoracic cartilage, it is carved and inserted into the exact location.

Costal cartilage has strong support and durability, so it can create a sharp nose bridge.

Autologous costal cartilage vs. donated costal cartilage

autologous costal cartilage

VS

donated costal cartilage

Taken from the patient's own chest (usually 6th to 9th costal cartilage) Collect Sterilization and radiation sterilization of other people's tissues
Very strong (excellent holding power) Supporting power strong
It is possible to occur, but can be controlled with excision and plastic surgery techniques. Warping phenomenon Mostly processed, so warping is relatively low.
High degree of freedom (design flexibility) Shape control Since it is already processed, shape control may be limited.
Costal cartilage harvesting takes more time. Scarring and pain are possible. (Incision is approximately 2-3 cm) Surgery time and recovery Shorter surgery time by eliminating the extraction process. No scarring, less pain.
Reoperation, cartilage deficiency, high-difficulty rhinoplasty Recommended for If you have a small amount of cartilage and want to avoid scarring during the first surgery

When autologous rib rhinoplasty is necessary

Target

If you are dissatisfied with the results of your previous surgery and need a second surgery
If you want a sturdy coraline that won't break down over time
If you want to safely harvest autologous ribs with minimal incision
If you want to improve not only the appearance but also the function, such as nasal congestion or septal problems.
